How do I add a screenshot to ArchiveLab? +
Tap the blue ADD SCREENSHOT button at the bottom of any Social Space or folder. You can select one or more images from your photo library. ArchiveLab does not auto-import screenshots — all imports are manual so you stay in control of what you archive.
OCR text extraction isn't working. What should I do? +
Make sure the screenshot contains clear, readable text (not handwriting or heavily stylized fonts). OCR works best on standard social media text. If results are empty, try a different screenshot. ArchiveLab uses Google ML Kit for on-device recognition — no internet is required.
Does ArchiveLab need an internet connection? +
No. All OCR processing happens entirely on your device using Google ML Kit. The only feature that requires a network connection is watching rewarded video ads to earn extra daily OCR credits. All your data remains on-device at all times.
What is the daily OCR scan limit? How do I get more? +
ArchiveLab includes a daily quota of OCR scans as part of the free model. You can earn 5 additional scans by watching a short rewarded video ad. The counter resets each day.
What is the Canvas and how do I use it? +
The Canvas is an infinite visual workspace (second tab at the bottom). You can add screenshots, folders, and OCR results as cards, then link them by selecting an item and tapping "Link selected". Drag cards to arrange them spatially. Use pinch-to-zoom to navigate. It's designed to help you map connections between ideas visually.
What are Social Spaces? +
Social Spaces are pre-made containers for each social platform — Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), Reddit, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, Pinterest, Threads, and more. Each space holds folders and captures. This keeps your archive organized by source from day one.
How does search work? +
The search bar at the top of the home screen searches across all extracted OCR text, folder names, comments, and tags simultaneously. Results appear instantly as you type. Everything is indexed locally on your device.
How do I export my data? +
Inside any folder's detail view, scroll to the bottom to find the TXT and CSV export buttons. TXT exports a plain text version of all extracted content; CSV exports a structured spreadsheet-compatible file. You can also share via the share sheet button.
How do I delete a screenshot or folder? +
To delete a screenshot, open it and use the menu (···) or swipe left in a list view. To delete a folder, tap the (···) icon next to the folder name and select Delete. Note: deleting a folder removes all captures inside it — this cannot be undone.
Is my data private? Do you store anything? +
Yes, fully private. ArchiveLab never uploads your screenshots, OCR text, or any personal data to any server. Everything is processed and stored locally on your device. The only third-party SDK that may collect minimal analytics data is Google AdMob for displaying ads. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Why are there ads in the app? +
ArchiveLab is free and we use Google AdMob to display ads that support ongoing development. Ads are shown in non-intrusive banner format. Rewarded video ads are optional and only shown when you choose to earn extra OCR credits. We do not sell your data to advertisers.
Can I back up or transfer my archive to a new phone? +
Currently, ArchiveLab stores all data locally on your device. We recommend using your phone's native backup (iCloud for iOS, Google One for Android) to include the app data. A dedicated export/import feature may be added in a future update.

Tags work across all Social Spaces. Great for cross-platform themes like "inspiration" or "competitor".

Pinch out to see the full map, pinch in to read individual OCR result cards on the canvas.

Search before importing

Before adding a screenshot, search first — you might already have it archived from a previous session.

Long-press for quick actions

Long-press any screenshot or folder card for a quick-action menu without opening the item.
